Itinerary

Day 1: Luang Prabang – Arrival

Your Laos Holiday begins with your arrival at the World Heritage city of Luang Prabang. You will be met by our Laos tour guide and transferred to your hotel. Your time on your first day is free and you can relax and rest overnight

Day 2: Luang Prabang – City Tour (B/L)

After enjoying your breakfast at your hotel you will be escorted to The National Museum. This large museum in the center of town contains many interesting and important exhibits. Leaving the museum you will visit Wat Visoun with its beautiful stupa and the shrine of Wat Aham. After visiting Wat Xieng Thong you will climb the 355 steps to the summit of Mount Phousi. The climb is suitable for anyone of fairly good health. There are plenty of rest stops on the way up.

At the half-way point you will see the Wat Tham Phousi shrine and when you reach the summit you will visit the gilded stupa. Your Laos trip presents you with wonderful photo opportunities of the city and this is a great place to witness the sunset. It affords superb views of the city and The Mekong River. After descending from the mount; you will visit The Street Night Market where there will be ample time for souvenir hunting. The first full day of your Laos tour ends with an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves (B/L)

Day 3 begins with breakfast at your hotel before your tour guide takes you to The Mekong River for a cruise through magnificent Laotian countryside to the famous Pak Ou Caves. On the way we will take you to visit the village of Ban Xanghai which is famous for its distilled local rice wine. We then travel on to the Pak Ou Caves. These are crammed full of golden lacquered statues of the Buddha. On the return journey we will escort you on a short drive to Ban Zang Khong. Here the local people hand-weave exquisite silk materials. The day ends with your Laos tour returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Kuang Sii Falls (B/L)

Once again your day begins with breakfast at the hotel, courtesy of your Laos tour. Shortly afterward we will make the 30km journey to the splendid Kuang Sii Falls. Here the time is your own to relax, swim in the beautiful warm waters or take the easy trek up to the top of the falls. On the return journey we will go to the Black Hmong Village, where the hill tribe people live their traditional lifestyle. Hand-made souvenirs are on offer and following this visit we will return you to your hotel.

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Ban Ann Elephant Camp (B/L)

On day 5 your Laos trip again provides your breakfast at the hotel before your Laos tour driver drives you out of town to visit the elephant camp. On the way to the camp we will take in the weaving village of Ban Phom Nom. Some of the weavers were garment makers for the last King of Laos. Next we visit the monument to Henri Mouhot at Kang Noon. Henri Mouhot was the man who discovered Angkor Wat in Cambodia. He moved to Laos but sadly contracted malaria and died in 1861. No Laos holiday would be complete without seeing the elephants and what better way than in a camp that cares for them so well. Many are rescue elephants and their story will be explained by the staff at the camp. You can take a 50 minute elephant ride and help with their bathing in the nearby Karn River. Your Laos tour will return to Luang Prabang where your day will end with an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Ban Chieng Mane - Pottery Village (B/L)

On your last full day your Laos tour guide will take you to the pier on The Mekong River. From here you will be taken by traditional riverboat (or Sabot) to the area of Ban Chieng. Whilst you are here you will visit the pottery village of Ban Chan. The villagers are Laos Loum people; they are the ethnic Lao who have traditionally resided in and around the lower Mekong Valley. Approximately 30 families are employed in the pottery making business. These fascinating people welcome visitors and are happy to talk and sell their pots. Returning to your hotel, your time is once again your own and overnight stay is by courtesy of your Laos Tour.

Day 7: Luang Prabang – Departure (B)

The final day of your Laos Holiday is free time spent at your hotel until your Laos tour guide again provides transport to the airport for travel to your next destination.
